The global consumer industry noticed a 13.1% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 over the previous month, led by Nestle’s 5.97% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The consumer industry’s overall hiring activity increased 2.31% when compared with October 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.23% share of the global consumer industry’s hiring activity in November 2022, down 0.55% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2022 were 18.54% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 41.66% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive consumer IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 33.55% emerged as the top IT occupation in the consumer hiring activity in November 2022, a 38.14% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 23.54% in November 2022, down 27.4% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 21.68% share in November 2022, a decline of 37.71% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 14.59% share in November 2022 and a drop of 38.2% over October 2022.
Top five consumer companies by recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 0.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global consumer industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Nestle posted 90 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 328.57% over the previous month, followed by PepsiCo with 89 jobs and a 35.51% decline. J. R. Simplot with 67 IT jobs and Carrier Global with 48 jobs, recorded a 9.46% decline and an 18.64% drop, respectively, while Petco Health and WellnessInc recorded a 10.42% drop with 43 job postings during November 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in consumer industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global consumer IT hiring activity in November 2022 with a 50.53% share, which marked a 37.75% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 28.45%, registering a 26.92% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 15.65% share and a 49.79% drop over October 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 3.71% and a month-on-month rise of 5.66%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.66%, registering an 8.7% increase over the previous month.
