Canada’s consumer industry registered a 23.4% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.4% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.58% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 0.53% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry in November 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 31.03% in November 2022, registering a 10% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 24.14% share, a decrease of 80.56% over the previous month.

3) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers held a share of 24.14%, registering a 36.36% decline from October 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 10.34%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 34.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Nestle posted 5 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 400% over the previous month, followed by Agropur cooperative with 5 jobs and a 400% growth. Maple Leaf Foods with 3 IT jobs and Spin Master with 2 jobs, recorded a 25% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton recorded a decline of 88.89% with 2 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.97%, down by 39.39% from October 2022. Entry Level positions with a 20.69% share, registered a decline of 77.78% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 10.34% share, down 57.14% over October 2022.
