The future of Interbrew’s real ale brands, in the UK, is looking doubtful since the Belgian brewer announced its acquisition of both Whitbread Beer Company and Bass Brewers. A source close to the company has told just-drinks that he believes Interbrew will have to cut its market share by some 5% in order to meet regulatory approval from the mergers commission at the EC.
