
On Tuesday, Campari Group will release its full-year and fourth-quarter results for 2017. Here, just-drinks takes a closer look at the group’s highlights during the three months to the end of December.
- The quarter started with the sale of almost all of Campari Group’s soft drinks interests. Royal Unibrew agreed to buy Lemonsoda, Oransoda, Pelmosoda and Mojito Soda – grouped under the Freedea brand name – as well as the Crodo brands
- Later in October, the group unveiled new packaging for Forty Creek Canadian whisky as it looked to increase the brand’s regional cues
- Towards the end of the month, Avatar actor Zoe Saldana was named as the star of Campari’s annual Red Diaries marketing project for 2018
- In November, the company launched its Glen Grant portfolio in Canada for the first time
- Year-to-date results came out in November, with the group reporting a 6.2% sales increase in the nine months to the end of September
- Later in November, Campari axed several Grand Marnier extensions in preparation to relaunch the liqueur brand
- In December, the group announced a change of general counsel & business development officer, with Fabio Di Fede returning to the company almost four years after having left
- The quarter ended with Campari agreeing to buy Cognac brand Bisquit Dubouché et Cie from Distell Group for EUR52.5m (US$62.2m)
- The move was followed by analyst speculation that Campari has more money to spend.
