He said that he does not expect it to become a massive category but chocolate is “probably something” that Coca-Cola needs to participate in. His remarks followed reports that Coca-Cola was planning a chocolate dairy drink launch for the summer under the brand name “Choglit” but Dunn did not refer to this directly. Last year, Coca-Cola bought Planet Java, including its bottled coffee-based drinks line, which could provide one means of entering the dairy beverage sector.
US: Coca-Cola confirms interest in chocolate
A senior executive at the soft drinks giant, Coca-Cola, has said that the chocolate beverage segment is an area of the market the company believes it should be looking at. Jeffrey Dunn, president and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola North America, said at the Beverage Forum conference being held in New York that the company believes chocolate flavoured beverages are an interesting niche opportunity.
