Löfbergs has appointed Anneli Ellsäter as its new CEO, making her the first woman to lead the Swedish coffee business.

Löfbergs board chair Kathrine Löfberg said Ellsäter “brings the international experience, commercial expertise and ability to lead change needed to take the next step in our development”.

Ellsäter joins from Flora Food Group, where she was global vice-president. She has “more than 20 years of experience” in senior positions at international consumer and brand-focused companies, Löfbergs said.

She said: “Löfbergs is a company that many people know and have a connection with. At the same time, it is so much more than a coffee brand. There is a strong company culture, a clear commitment to sustainability, and a long-term perspective that I find very inspiring.

“I look forward to getting to know the business even better and, together with our employees, customers and other partners, continuing to develop the company.”

Löfbergs, which owns brands such as Kobbs and Peter Larsen Kaffe, was founded in Karlstad in 1906. According to the company, it roasts the equivalent of “more than ten million cups of coffee” daily.

Founded in 1906, Löfbergs began exporting in 1993 and generates around half of its sales abroad. The company also operates in Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Baltic states and the UK. It is also investing in Poland.

In 2024, Löfbergs reported turnover of SKr2.77bn ($294.3m) and an operating result of SKr104m, with 316 employees.
