
Sazerac Company is planning to inject over $38m in expanding operations at its US facility in New Albany, Indiana, managed by its Northwest Ordinance Distilling (NOD) subsidiary.
The $38m investment, includes over $35m in new equipment and over $2m in real property improvements, according to a joint statement between Sazerac, NOD and local economic development firm One Southern Indiana.

The investment at the distillation plant has been approved by the New Albany City Council after it accepted a local property tax abatement.
The expansion will enable NOD to increase production capacity at the site, to meet “growing demand for its distilled spirits products”, the joint statement said.
Construction and equipment installation are expected to begin later this year.
The project will also create 25 new full-time positions, while ensuring the “continued employment” of the company’s existing 357 team members in New Albany.

Sazerac of Indiana has been operating in New Albany since 2017, when it located and revitalized the former General Mills facility.
Since then, One Southern Indiana claims that the company has achieved “significant growth, made substantial capital investments, and drawn upon the strength of the local workforce while expanding its team”.
The New Albany facility currently produces various of Sazerac’s whisky brands for nationwide distribution, including Fireball Cinnamon Whisky.

The news comes as Sazerac has bought local craft distiller Western Son Vodka and Distillery for an undisclosed sum.
