UK alcoholic tea company Noveltea has released a spirit in partnership with Puerto Rican rum producer Destilería Serrallés.

La Fusión is an 11%-abv blend of Serrallés’ Don Q Añejo rum with brewed oolong and green teas. Noveltea said the new launch targets rum consumers looking for a “contemporary tea twist”.

La Fusión is on sale in the UK with an SRP of GBP39.95 (US$55) per 70cl bottle.

“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Destilería Serrallés and are confident that our latest limited-edition spirit is one of our most outstanding innovations to date,” said Noveltea co-founder Vincent Efferoth. “Blending Don Q Añejo rum with a perfect match of oolong and green teas creates unique flavours and aromas that can’t be found anywhere else on the market.”

Alcoholic tea releases are becoming more frequent as alcohol brand owners look beyond the hard seltzer category. In the US, Pabst Brewing Co launched Pabst Blue Ribbon Hard Tea last year while last month, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co announced plans to release Tea West hard tea next year.

Destilería Serrallés owns the Don Q rum brand. Last year, the distiller added a seven-year-old rum to its portfolio in the US.
