Tropicana is to launch a low-calorie orange juice, the first for over a decade. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the company plans to release Light ‘n Healthy in January next year.

An eight-ounce serving of the drink will contain 70 calories, as opposed to the 110 calories in an equivalent serving of regular Tropicana orange juice. The beverage will also have less sugar, 14 grams compared to 22 grams in an eight-ounce bottle of regular juice.

In the report, Ron Coughlin, senior vice president of marketing at the company, said: “Most food categories have a lighter version and we didn’t. We are one of the last to crack that code.

“This is a major revolution in the orange juice category,” he told the Journal.
