The French trading group, Soufflet, has reached an agreement with Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH), the brewing joint venture between Carlsberg and Scottish & Newcastle (S&N), to acquire its majority stake in the Slavuta malting plant in Ukraine, the French group has announced.

“With this operation, the Soufflet group, the biggest maltster in the world, is pursuing its expansion strategy in eastern Europe, which started in 1998,” Soufflet said in a statement.
