The Kenyan brewing force, East African Breweries Ltd. (EABL), part of the Diageo group, posted pre-tax profits of KS2.28 billion (Kenyan Shillings) ($29.8m) for the first half of the current fiscal year, 60% up on the first half of the previous year.
EABL said pre-tax profits had been boosted by its new Ugandan spirits subsidiary, International Distillers Uganda Ltd., whose profits were up 100% on the back of better beer and spirits sales.
