The Bordeaux wine region has registered a new classification, “Cru Bourgeois du Medoc” which will be applied for the first time to the 2003 vintage.
Of the 490 applications to join the Cru Bourgeois du Medoc appellation, 247 chateaux were chosen to join the classification, after 18 months of selection.
The classification covers wines from the AOCs of the Medoc, Haut-Medoc, Listrac, Margaux, Moulis, Pauillac, Saint-Estephe and Saint Julien.
Of the 247 chateaux registered, nine will be classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, 87 will be Cru Bourgeois Superieur and 151 are Cru Bourgeois.
