The German drinks company, Eckes AG, has registered a net profit for 2002 of €24.2m (US$28.2m), against €24m (US$27.9m) in 2001.

Eckes’ earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) increased by 13% to €48.4m (US$56.4m), on turnover up 7.9% at €1.35 billion (US$1.57 billion).

Earlier this month, Eckes announced that it had scrapped plans to sell its alcoholic drinks division after failing to receive an offer which matched its price expectations. Alcohol sales in 2002 reached €675m (US$786m).
