The US division of Zamora Co is set to handle Mezcal San Cosme in the market. The move, which represents Zamora's 'entry' into the agave-based spirits category, sees Zamora Co USA take on importation duties as well as sales & marketing for the brand with immediate effect. Distribution will be through Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. San Cosme, which was founded 12 years ago in Mexico's Oaxaca state, will sit alongside Zamora's Licor 43 liqueur and Martin Miller's gin brands, among others, in its US footprint. The mezcal, which is sourced from 100% espadin agave and has an abv of 40%, carries an SRP in the country of around US$45 per 75cl bottle. "We have been searching for some time for the perfect agave spirits that align with our ... focus on the world's top-quality ultra-premium products," says Zamora CO USA CEO Bill Corbett. "We're very proud to represent this world-class brand here in the U.S." Earlier this year, the privately-owned Spanish group changed its CEO, with Javier Pijoan replacing Emilio Restoy.
