William Grant & Sons has added another expression to the ultra-premium ‘The Grand Series’ from single malt Scotch brand Glenfiddich.

Glenfiddich Grande Couronne is a 26-year-old whisky that has been finished for two years in ex-Cognac casks. The iteration, which joins 2019’s Grand Cru and 2016’s Gran Reserva in the series, carries an SRP of GBP450 in the UK.

“Grande Couronne … is the only Glenfiddich single malt that has matured in American and European oak casks and finished in rare French Cognac casks,” said malt master Brian Kinsman. “The length of the finish, two years, is highly unusual and adds extra layers of sweet toasted oak and velvety aromas of café crème, brown sugar and soft spice.”

Late last year, just-drinks exclusively revealed that William Grant CEO Simon Hunt had left the privately-owned company after five years.
