Jamba Juice®, the industry leader in blended-to-order smoothies and fresh squeezed juices will be the title sponsor for the City of Los Angeles Triathlon, scheduled for Sept. 10, 2000, and expected to be one of the largest triathlons in the country.

As someone who has been active in the sport since its inception over 20 years ago, I don’t recall a more comprehensive sponsorship deal. With Jamba Juice on board we now have all the elements to make this triathlon the world class event we all know it can be.”

In addition to holding the title sponsorship for the race, Jamba will become a strategic partner in the promotion of the event. Jamba will host a free smoothie day at its Century City location (2020 Avenue of the Stars, 310/226-2770) Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. Jamba will ask its patrons to donate what they planned to spend on a smoothie to the Special Olympics. Triathlete Mark Allen, an icon and legend within the triathlon circuit, six-time Ironman world champion, 10-time Nice International Triathlon champion, and an undefeated force in 20 races will also be on-site signing autographs.

In-store posters and race applications will be displayed at all Jamba’s Southern California stores, and Jamba’s top-selling “Protein Berry Pizzazz” power smoothie is the official smoothie of the Jamba Juice City of Los Angeles Triathlon. Jamba will also include a link on its website to the Jamba Juice City of Los Angeles Triathlon’s official website along with many other marketing elements.

The Jamba Juice City of Los Angeles Triathlon is an Olympic distance course that will incorporate a variety of the historical and beautiful landmarks of Los Angeles including Venice Beach, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Angel’s Flight and Dodger Stadium. The swim course consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim transitioning to a 40-kilometer cycle. The final leg of the race is a 10-kilometer run with the finish line in Downtown Los Angeles. Special Olympics Southern California has been selected as the exclusive charity. The organization will play a vital role in the marketing and promotion of the event as well as assisting with race production and participation.
