The Scotch whisky distillers, Whyte & Mackay, have signed a sponsorship deal with the UK Premier League football club, Leeds Utd, worth £3m, beginning next season.

The deal includes an additional £3.5m in performance-related bonuses. Leeds, which recently reported a £17.2m loss and has debts of £78.9m, previously had a sponsorship deal with the troubled UK cider group, HP Bulmer.
