Coca-Cola is to venture into the internet music download arena. The company announced yesterday that it will launch a download service in January, selling downloads of 250,000 songs supplied by the five major music labels. No pricing plan has been announced yet.

The download service will be for the UK market only and is a joint-venture with UK specialists OD2. The new site will be at www.Mycokemusic.com.

PepsiCo Inc recently announced that it is to team up with Apple’s iTunes download service, offering access to the site’s 100m songs in an ‘under-the-cap’ giveaway. The promotion will begin in February. The Apple service is not currently available in Europe.
