The US brewer, Anheuser-Busch, has lost a long-running legal case to prevent the Czech brewer, Budejovicky Budvar, from using the “Bud” trademark in the UK.

A ruling by the House of Lords has prevented Anheuser’s bid to revoke Budejovicky Budvar’s ownership of the “Bud” name in the UK, Anheuser’s second largest market.

In a written ruling, the three Law Lords did not expand on their reasons for not allowing legal proceedings to continue. The ruling prevents Anheuser-Busch from taking further action in the UK courts.
