An aperitif designed specifically to be consumed with Indian food has launched in the UK.
Sollasa, which has just been released on its brand website, is a grain spirit that also uses orange zest, lime and lychees in the production process. Botanicals include mint, basil, coriander seeds and cardamom.
“We were raised on Indian cooking; it’s vibrant, flavoursome and varied,” said brand co-founders Sajag and Vishal Patel. “The choice of drinks to accompany it isn’t. It’s dominated by mass-produced lagers and white wine.
“We believe Indian cuisine deserves a delicious drink that authentically complements it.”
The recommended serve for Sollasa, which takes its name from a 12th Century Sanskrit text ‘recipe book’, is as a long drink with tonic.
