Reports in Poland have suggested that the US soft drinks giant, Coca-Cola, is negotiating to acquire the Polish mineral water company, Multivita, from the food group, Maspex. A spokesman for the Maspex group told the news agency, Interfax, that it could neither confirm nor deny the report.

According to Nielsen data, the acquisition would boost Coca-Cola’s share of the mineral water market in Poland, where it already markets its Bonaqua brand, by 3% to 7%.

Poland is considered to be a mineral water market with strong potential for growth. At 49 litres, per capita consumption is well below that of many other European countries.
