Phillips Distilling Co has appointed the former head of Pernod Ricard’s Absolut vodka unit, Kevin Fennessey, to its board.

Fennessey, who led Absolut Spirits as CEO for three years before leaving Pernod Ricard in 2009 to join North American distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, took on his new role with Phillips on Monday. Phillips Distilling owns the UV Vodka range as well gins and brown spirits brands including Revel Stoke Canadian whisky.

The Minnesota-based company welcomed Fennessey to its board, calling him a veteran of the beverage industry and “a great asset to our team”. Fennessey was head of commercial operations at Southern Glazer’s during a ten-year career at the distributor.

“We are pleased to welcome Kevin to the Phillips Distilling board during this exciting time as we continue to expand our commercial strategy and enhance our relationships with distributor and retail partners,” said Andy England, Phillips Distilling Co CEO.

England, a former CMO for US brewing joint venture MillerCoors, has been with Phillips Distilling for less than a year. He joined the company as CEO in August.
