Liya Zhang, who currently serves as VP of premium & off-premise with the company’s China unit, assumes the role today. Zhang will report to the company’s global GTR CEO, Mohit Lal and will be based in London.

She replaces Craig Johnson, who will move to the role of VP for brand management at Pernod’s US operations.

Zhang has held a range of positions since joining Pernod in 2000, including as a brand manager for Cognac house Martell & Co and group brand director for the premium portfolio unit.

She was handed her previous role last year.

“With the company at the forefront of Global Travel Retail, helping to grow its marketing capability and cement Pernod Ricard as a thought leader across the channel is a fantastic opportunity, and one I will be grabbing with both hands,” Zhang said.

In April, the company reported a near-20% sales leap for the period between January and March this year.
