PepsiCo is set to run a US media campaign ahead of next week's launch of Nitro Pepsi, a nitrogen-infused variant of its signature CSD. The ‘A Smoother Way to Soda’ campaign features TikTok celebrity Khaby Lame in a series of posters as well as fronting a national television commercial that is due to play during this year's Oscars pre-show. The nitrogen-infused brand extension will be available in Draft Cola and Vanilla in the US from next week. The ads will appear in out-of-home format across the US in cities including New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas with print and online media slots secured in the New York Times, The New Yorker and Variety. The media assets were captured by American photographer David LaChapelle. “Since Khaby Lame is known for pointing out the obvious with the use of his signature hand gestures, we felt he was the perfect person to show the world Nitro Pepsi,” said Pepsi CMO Todd Kaplan. PepsiCo officially announced Nitro Pepsi last month. The CSD will be the first to house a widget in the can that infuses the beverage with nitrogen bubbles that create a creamy texture.
