The Japanese drinks group, Suntory, has said it is voluntarily recalling some 3.86m cases of beverages which contain an additive not permitted in Japan.
The recall extends to some seven brands including the alcoholic beverage, Super Chu-Hi.
The additive, N-ethyl-4-menthane-3-carboxamide, is not authorised under Japan’s Food Sanitation Law though it is permitted in Europe and the US. Suntory said it posed no danger to health.
