The Indian spirits company, McDowell and Co., is planning to set up overseas operations in Scotland and Sri Lanka as part of its international expansion strategy.

The new subsidiaries are to produce and market McDowell brands, which include McDowell No. 1, Signature, Kingfisher and Bagpiper, in the respective countries.

The company also announced that it is planning to initiate a major brand-building strategy for its core brands, with a budget of Rs460m.
