The Indian state of Maharashtra, which accounts for nearly 95% of wine produced in the country, has reported a 33% leap in wine exports for the year 2005-06.
The state exported 200,000 litres of wine in 2005-06, compared to 150,000 litres the previous year.
Maharashtra has seen a near six-fold increase in exports over the last five years due to the rapid development of wine industry in India.
