Gin Mare Capri is marketed as a ‘homage’ to the Mediterranean island of Capri. Lemons grown on the island are macerated for 12 months in aluminium tanks before being added to the spirit. The packaging includes a decorative cork buoy and a cloth label. According to the brand owner, the bottle design represents the erosion effect of the sea. The Gin Mare distillery is located on the Spanish coast near Barcelona. The premium end of the gin category is in healthy growth in the US, although the sales values for the category may not suggest as much. Overall, gin in the US hit its peak in the US back in 2017, with annual sales of US$3.8bn, according to GlobalData. That high is expected to return, although not until 2026. However, while the value end of the category is in decline, more-expensive brands are doing well. Diageo's purchase of Aviation American Gin owner Davos Brands in 2020 for US$610m backs up where gin's growth opportunity lies in the country. !function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(e){if(void 0!==e.data["datawrapper-height"]){var t=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var a in e.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r=0;r
