Glasgow’s Clydeside Distillery has released its first single malt Scotch whisky.

Stobcross is named after the former industrial area of Glasgow in which the four-year-old distillery is based. The lowland single malt is matured in American and European oak casks.

“Today marks a culmination of many years of hard work,” said Andrew Morrison, the commercial director of Clydeside owner Morrison Glasgow Distillers. “Stobcross pays tribute to Glasgow’s industrial heritage and the spirit of innovation which forged its position on the global stage.”

Construction of the city-centre distillery started in 2016. Funding was provided by private donors and the Scottish Investment Bank.

Earlier this week, Edrington launched a new annual series from single malt Scotch The Macallan that will focus on sustainability. The inaugural expression, called Rich Cacao, uses packaging made from the discarded husks of cacao pods.
