A temperance society in the far north of Canada is pushing for a ban on sales of alcohol to pregnant women in order to reduce the high number of cases of foetal alcohol syndrome in the native communities of the Yukon. The Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Society of Yukon want bars, off-licenses and liquor stores to stop selling alcohol to pregnant women or risk losing their license.
