Brooklyn Brewery is lining up a premium lager extension of its namesake brand. Brooklyn Pilsner will debut this month in the US, UK and Finland, before a wider global release later this year. The 4.6% abv lager is available in 35cl cans in the off-premise and on draft in the on-premise. Details of an SRP in either channel and launch timetable were not immediately available. For the packaging, the brewer has used mustard yellow, based on consumer testing showing perceived shelf standout. The roll-out beyond Brooklyn's domestic market will be handled by Carlsberg, which has a longstanding distribution and brewing licence arrangement with the company. “It’s important for us to have a pilsner in our Brooklyn portfolio," said Carlsberg's craft beer global marketing director Jonas Bjarkow. "This is about putting soul into scale." Carlsberg's relationship with Brooklyn has continued despite Kirin Brewery's purchase of a 25% stake around six years ago.
