Five months after his appointment as CEO at Belgian-based brewing combine, Interbrew, John Brock has made some significant changes to his top-level executive team.
The group’s chief financial officer, Luc Missorten, is to step down, while the role of chief operating officer, occupied by Jerry Fowden, has been abolished. Fowden, however, is to remain with the company.

Analysts suggested that the move was partly Brock asserting his authority and partly aimed at addressing investor concerns over the company’s costly expansion strategy led by previous CEO, Hugo Powell. Brock has so far been putting the focus on internal rather than acquisitive growth.
Missorten, who was close to Powell, is to leave the company to pursue other interests but is to remain on the board until a new CFO is appointed. Fowden is to take responsibility for the company’s European operations.
