August 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.37% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 1.73% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.27% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 35.68% in August 2022, a 0.97% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 27.87% in August 2022, marking an 8.7% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 18.7% in August 2022, a 3.81% rise from July 2022.

Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 46.58% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Petco Health and WellnessInc posted 82 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 105% over the previous month, followed by The J. R. Simplot with 73 jobs and a flat growth. Carrier Global with 65 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 56 jobs, recorded a 62.5% rise and an 8.2% drop, respectively, while Nestle recorded a 42.31% decline with 45 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with an 89.54% share in August 2022, a 5.35% increase over July 2022. Mexico featured next with a 6.43% share, down 16.67% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 4.03% share, a drop of 11.32% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.29%, up by 2.18% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.1% share, registered a growth of 2.55% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.55% share, up 2.6% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.06%, recording a month-on-month growth of 33.33%.
