North America witnessed a 2.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen an increase of 1.7% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.24% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 36.05% in September 2022, a 5.16% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 28.21% in September 2022, marking a 6.38% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.22% in September 2022, a 12.78% drop from August 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 9.53% in September 2022, a 2.48% rise over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 27.4% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during September 2022 over previous month.
The J. R. Simplot posted 108 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 31.71% over the previous month, followed by Carrier Global with 80 jobs and a 19.4% growth. Petco Health and WellnessInc with 76 IT jobs and Peloton Interactive with 48 jobs, recorded a 7.32% drop and a 100% rise, respectively, while Rich Products recorded a 76.92% increase with 46 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with an 89.16% share in September 2022, a 4.22% increase over August 2022. Canada featured next with a 6.3% share, up 64% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 4.53% share, a drop of 22.37% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.88%, up by 0.67% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.14% share, registered a decline of 10.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.52% share, up 47.67% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.38%, recording a month-on-month growth of 24%.
