Middle East & Africa witnessed a 15.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 2.74% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.05% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.58% over the last three-month average share.

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 48% in August 2022, a 20% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20% in August 2022, marking a 58.33% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 20% in August 2022, a flat growth from July 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 12% in August 2022, a 57.14% decline over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s consumer industry during August 2022 over previous month.

Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. posted 5 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 37.5% over the previous month, followed by Unilever with 4 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Nestle with 2 IT jobs and Distell Group Holdings with 2 jobs, recorded a 33.33% drop and a 100% rise, respectively, while LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s consumer industry

South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 32% share in August 2022, a 100% increase over July 2022. Sudan featured next with a 28% share, down 12.5% over the previous month. Israel recorded a 16% share, a flat growth compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 80%, down by 20% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12% share, registered a growth of 200% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8% share, down 50% over July 2022.
