The global drinks industry noticed an 8.0% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 over the previous month, led by Nestle’s 23.53% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity declined 0.21% when compared with August 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.68% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in September 2022, down 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of September 2022 were 10.65% lower when compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 17.07% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive drinks IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 34.49% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in September 2022, an 11.03% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 20.59% in September 2022, down 11.49% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 20.05% share in September 2022, a decline of 27.88% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 19.79% share in September 2022 and a rise of 27.59% over August 2022.

Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 7.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Nestle posted 88 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 13.73% over the previous month, followed by Carlsberg with 53 jobs and a 65.63% growth. PepsiCo with 42 IT jobs and Anheuser-Busch InBev with 29 jobs, recorded a 40.85% decline and a 38.3% drop, respectively, while Coca-Cola Europacific Partners recorded a 525% rise with 25 job postings during September 2022.

Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry

North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in September 2022 with a 44.65% share, which marked a 29.24% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 31.28%, registering a 20.62% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 20.05% share and a 36.36% rise over August 2022.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.41% and a month-on-month drop of 52.63%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.6%, registering a 100% increase over the previous month.
