With its domestic market now saturated with foreign lager, Britain’s role as an international player in the brewing world looks bleak. But as just-drinks’ columnist Andrew Jefford argues, nothing could be further from the truth, as breadth of choice fights back against the bland. What does it take to conquer the world? Not very much, it would seem, at least in brewing terms. Among universally available beers, only Guinness offers any sort of a challenge to the taste buds.
