Constellation Brands will announce its first-quarter results on Wednesday (1 July). Here, just-drinks looks back at the wine, beer and spirits producer's activities in the three months to the end of May:
- In early-April, Constellation reported a healthy jump in both sales and profits for its fiscal year to the end of February. The company credited its beer division for driving the performance, with CEO Rob Sands elaborating on the numbers in a conference call later the same day. Despite the impressive figures, analysts voiced concerns about the struggles facing the firm's wine operations.
- Later the same month, Constellation set its sights on the Travel Retail channel in Asia with the creation of a dedicated regional manager position in the region. Mandy So has assumed the role, joining Constellation from Edrington.
- In mid-May, Jared Fix was confirmed as the new chief marketing officer for Constellation. Fix, who moved across from Suntory, has replaced Chris Fehrnstrom, who has left the group.
- Finally, in mid-June, CFO Bob Ryder announced his intention to step down. Ryder, who had held the post since 2007, has been replaced by David Klein. The move rang alarm bells on Wall Street.
