
On Wednesday, Brown-Forman will report its third-quarter and year-to-date results. Here, just-drinks takes a look at the company’s performance in the three months to the end of January:
- In December, the firm’s CEO Paul Varga hinted at the prospect of the company building its own Scotch or Irish whisk(e)y production facility as an alternative to an acquisition in either category.
- In the same month, the company signed a “co-operation agreement” with Chinese baijiu maker Wuliangye Yibin Co. The deal will see the two groups share best industry practices and market insights.
- In January, Brown-Forman replaced the long-serving head of its India business unit. Gustavo Zerbini, Brown-Forman’s former sales and marketing director for Brazil, took over from Amrit Singh. Singh was India GM for 18 years.
- In other employment news that month, the firm promoted its “most experienced global executive” Mark McCallum to oversee Jack Daniel’s in a newly-created role. McCallum was previously the company’s Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Travel Retail president.
- Also in January, Brown-Forman announced details of its latest dividend for its investors.
