The top five companies accounted for 46% of patenting activity

Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that NIKE filed the most 3D printing patents within the consumer industry in Q2 2023. The company filed 13 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 7 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Ricoh with 8 3D printing patent filings, Signify (5 filings), and Daikin Industries (4 filings) in Q2 2023.

Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 48% share of total patent filings

The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 48%, followed by China (18%) and Japan (4%). The share represented by the US was 17% higher than the 31% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
