Scotch whisky blender Glasgow Whisky has purchased its first production facility.
The company this week acquired Tromie Mills Distillery near Kingussie in Cairngorms National Park. Glasgow Whisky will refurbish the distillery when current tenant Speyside Distillers moves out in 2025.
Speyside Distillers announced plans to build a new distillery, also near Kingussie, earlier this year.
Glasgow Whisky was founded in 2007 as a blender and bonder. Owners Graham Taylor and Stuart Hendry said the facility will allow the company to add to its portfolio and supply clients around the world with “quality Scotch whisky”.
“Our plans for the distillery will give us the opportunity to celebrate an established and known site, whilst bringing it into the 21st Century in terms of distilling innovation, sustainability and production methods,” Hendry added.
Financial details of the purchase, from Tromie Mills Distillery, have not been disclosed.
