Holsten has declined to comment on yesterday’s reports about a possible takeover of the German brewer Holsten. Focus magazine in Germany yesterday claimed that Carlsberg and Bitburger Brauerei are planning a joint takeover of Holsten.
Carlsberg has also declined to comment.
A bid of over €550m (US$658.8m) has been received by Holsten’s largest shareholder, Christian Eisenbeiss but, according to the magazine, this may not be enough for a company €300m in debt.
