According to Danish tax authorities, beer sales in the country fell by 1.2% in 2002.

The authorities said that having peaked in 1994, sales have declined steadily since. Cross-border sales in Germany, where taxes and prices are lower, are thought to be one of the prime reasons for declining beer sales. Sales were down 3.6% in December against December 2001.
