Coca-Cola HBC’s newest Digital Hub has now grown to more than 150 IT professionals, reflecting the rapid pace of our digital expansion. Earlier this summer, the team marked this evolution with activities inspired by the flagship Share a Coke campaign, a fitting tribute to the Hub’s collaborative spirit.

They form part of a wider network of over 500 international digital professionals; all working together to deliver value and accelerate Coca-Cola HBC’s digital transformation.

Egypt is the latest addition to Coca-Cola HBC’s network of technology centres, joining established hubs in Bulgaria and Greece. In addition to the Hubs in Sofia (Bulgaria) and Athens (Greece), Cairo (Egypt) will lead the software engineering and development, creating the digital tools that power the company’s operations in 27 markets.

Together, the hubs form an integrated network accelerating Coca-Cola HBC’s growth and transformation by delivering secure, efficient technology at speed to meet market needs.

Building on a strong base

“Egypt offers both scale and talent,” explains Anastasis Liveretos, Head of Digital Hub Operations, Egypt. “By expanding our technology capabilities here, we’re developing skills, creating opportunities, and helping position Cairo as an innovation hub in the region.”

That vision builds on a strong foundation. Coca-Cola HBC entered one of the region’s largest non-alcoholic beverage markets in 2022 with the acquisition of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt. Today, five production sites are creating significant new job opportunities across the company’s value chain in the market and supply a significant share of the country’s soft drinks and hydration categories.

The choice of Cairo for the new Digital Hub reflects the company’s long-term commitment to invest in the countries where it operates.  By drawing on a young pipeline of STEM graduates and experienced professionals, the company is creating technology careers, strengthening local expertise and opening new pathways into the country’s digital economy.

Innovation from within

One of the Digital Hub’s first standout projects is an AI-powered sales app that helps Coca-Cola HBC’s on-the-ground teams tailor promotions in real time.  Another key focus area is the upgraded Customer Portal now equipped with enhanced features that operate twice as fast as before, providing a significantly improved experience for our customers.

“One of the best things about working here is the breadth of technologies we apply to day-to-day business realities across the countries and territories where we operate,” says Anastasis. “That can mean flying drones to track warehouse stock, testing autonomous vehicle delivery solutions, or building blockchain tools to secure contracts. We also enhance finance systems and create HR platforms that make life easier for employees. The work touches every part of the business.”

In-house development, Anastasis adds, allows the company to move faster, align more closely with the strategic goals, and retain full ownership of its technology and data.

A purpose-built headquarter for growth

The Hub team recently moved into a 4,500 m², three-story facility designed for scale.  Built with sustainable materials and awarded gold environmental accreditation, the state-of-the-art space is designed to nurture collaboration, experimentation, and advanced engineering in AI, machine learning, and data science. By 2027, the Hub is expected to employ around 450 IT professionals, making it one of the largest centres of technology talent in Coca-Cola HBC’s network.

“This is a place for growth,” says Anastasis. “We want our people to see career pathways here that inspire them to stay, grow, and lead the way.”

Driving the future of consumer goods

Across the consumer goods sector, the race to digitise operations is reshaping how products are developed, distributed, and marketed. For Coca-Cola HBC, the Digital Hub in Egypt is a strategic investment in future competitiveness. By centralising advanced digital capabilities here, the company can respond faster to market shifts, apply AI-driven insights at scale, and set new benchmarks for efficiency and brand engagement.

“Yes, we’re delivering powerful tools,” says Anastasis. “And just as importantly, we’re building a community of innovators whose impact will be felt in Egypt, across our regions, and throughout our markets. The capability we’re creating here will support our markets today and help define how we operate tomorrow.”
