The US-based soft drinks bottler, Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG), has appointed John T. Cahill, currently the company’s CEO, as chairman in succession to Craig E. Weatherup who has retired. Weatherup had announced his intention to retire in November, since when Cahill has been chairman-elect.

Weatherup, who has been chairman since PBG separated from PepsiCo in November 1998, is to remain on the board. Cahill, who joined the company in 1989, will remain as CEO.
