The US fruit juice company, Minute Maid, part of the Coca-Cola group, has said it has removed the artificial coloring from two of its best-selling children’s drinks brands, Hi-C fruit drinks in boxes and the 64-fluid-ounce bottles of Disney Hundred Acre Wood 100% Juice, in response to consumer concerns.

It has been suggested that the presence of artificial colourings was thought not to match consumer expectations for Disney juice brands which are perceived to be more healthy. But Minute Maid said the reason why the colourings had been taken out of the Hi-C boxes was to reduce staining of clothes and carpets from spillages. The company said it would from now be putting “won’t stain fabrics” on the label.
