The UK entrepreneur, Hugh Osmond, has said that he is considering launching a takeover bid for the pubs and hotels group, Six Continents. Shares in Six Continents rose 6% on the bid speculation closing yesterday at £5.97.

Six Continents said it was yet to receive a formal offer from Osmond who was a co-founder of the Pizza Express restaurant business.
