The investment bank, Merrill Lynch, has reduced its rating on the spirits group, Diageo, from “buy” to “neutral”.

The bank also reduced its earnings per share forecast for Diageo by 2.4% to 48.2p for the year to the end of June 2003 and by 6.7% to 49.1p for the financial year just begun.
