Reports in the UK have suggested that the UK brewer, Scottish & Newcastle (S&N), is poised to appoint its finance director, Ian McHoul, as its new chief executive.

Sources have suggested that McHoul is the strong favourite for the post following a nine-month search for a new boss by S&N. However, observers have suggested that some investors will be disappointed if S&N does not go for an external candidate.
