The salary which global drinks force, Diageo, paid its chief executive, Paul Walsh, fell last year to £1.9m from £2.3m the year before. The reduction was due to a 26% drop in Walsh’s bonus.

However, according to a report in the Financial Times, Walsh did gain £1.7m under long-term incentive plans, against £1.4m the year before.
